On June 15, 1976, the Houston Astrodome experienced its only rainout due to a severe thunderstorm that flooded the surrounding area. The Houston Astros were scheduled to play the Pittsburgh Pirates, but the heavy rain and resulting floods made it impossible for fans and some players to reach the stadium. The game was officially postponed, and the Astros even hosted a dinner for the few fans and players who were already inside the dome.
